The DecibelThe decibel (dB) is the unit used to measure the intensity of a sound. The decibel scale is a little out of order because our ears are very sensitive. The smallest audible sound that we can hear is 0 dB, or almost total silence. Any sound above 85 dB can cause hearing loss, and if you listen to a 90 dB sound for eight hours, you will experience hearing damage.
